NavCan
Class G Airspace is GONE.
October 4th, 2009SOGA AdminUnless I missed a meeting, NavCan has done this without telling us about it.
In summary, ALL uncontrolled airspace is Southern Ontario has been taken away. It's all controlled airspace now. The quality of the map in the attached document is terrible but from what I can tell, the area we do XC in (the yellow area) is now Class E from 3500'asl and up (about 2000'agl). In other words, if your are soaring (ie not looking for a place to land) you are in controlled airspace. You'll need your HAGAR to fly in this area...yes...even if you are 2000'agl over our own field.

Over the last number of weeks, NAV CANADA has contacted a number of customers and stakeholders to assist us in the identification of potential issues with some proposed changes associated with the Windsor, Toronto, Montreal Airspace and Services Review.
NAV CANADA will be hosting a conference call to review the risk analysis and mitigations derived from the issues and concerns which were raised through the consultation.
The Conference Call will be held on Friday July 11th, 2008, at 1:00 p.m.
I has the call-in info if you wish to be on the call.
Windsor – Toronto – Montreal Airspace and Services Review
June 12th, 2008SOGA AdminBelow is the text from the attached document....it lays out most of the proposed airspace changes that were discussed at the last NavCan meeting.
It's really concerning as they are now wanting to change the rest of the uncontrolled airspace in SW Ontario to Class E above 2500'agl. That means we can't take the tug above that....ultralights aren't allowed in Class E.
Stay tuned.
Mark
PS - the pictures have been omitted as they are a lot of work to add them all in. Feel free to download and look at the PDF attached at the bottom.
