I hope that you're the same as me and you're in this sport of hang gliding for life! It's evident that we should have our own home so we can ensure the longevity of our sport in SW Ontario. Land values are forever increasing so we better get a property of our own before we're priced out of the market.
It'd be good for our relationship with NavCanada and Transport Canada so they know we're serious!

October 14th, 2008SOGA AdminAnother good 'turn out'...9 people 'at' the meeting...well, only three of us were 'at' the meeting (Ken, Mary and myself) but six others joined in over Skype or speaker-phone during the meeting. What technology...!
We had our first meeting of the Land Search Group to start to hash out needs/goals/processes to work towards owning land.
If you're a member of the group already, you've received a flurry of emails with new postings to that group...don't feel inundated - I'd rather have more emails telling me what's going on than none.

Reasons to invest

- other hang glider pilots
- our significant others
- Keep it family friendly
- focus on the long-term property investment
Uses of land
October 14th, 2008SOGA AdminSOGA can't be the only 'customer' of the site. To look at this Land Ownership group as a business, other lines of income should be considered. Other streams of revenue could be:
- hang gliding schools
- ultralight schools
- ultralight storage
- farming
- campground, trailer parking, trailer lots, cabin lots
- winter activities (XC skiing, snow-mobiling, etc).
I may be reaching at some of these activities but nothing should be ruled out...as long as we prioritize hang gliding!!!

At this point (Oct 2008) we need as many people to have interest in making this project a reality. At this point being involved in this group DOES NOT mean that you are committed or expected to invest in the project but the number one reason for this group is to find a suitable property for YOU, the hang glider pilot.
